The Importance of Hi-Vis Workwear

Hi-Vis (high visibility) workwear is a critical component of safety gear for workers in various industries, including construction, roadwork, and emergency services. This specialized clothing is designed to make the wearer more visible in low-light and high-risk environments, reducing the likelihood of accidents and injuries. Hi-Vis workwear is available in various forms, including short and long sleeve shirts, jackets, and vests, each serving a specific purpose.

Brands like Ritemate, CAT, FXD, Hard Yakka, KingGee, and Rainbird offer high-quality hi-vis apparel that meets industry safety standards.

Hi-Vis Short and Long Sleeve Shirts

Hi-Vis shirts are a versatile option for workers who require high visibility throughout their shift. They come in both short and long sleeve versions, offering different levels of coverage and comfort depending on the work environment and weather conditions.

  • Ritemate, Hard Yakka and KingGee are known for their durable and comfortable hi-vis shirts. Hard Yakka and KingGee offers a range of breathable, moisture-wicking fabrics that keep workers cool and comfortable, even during long hours. Ritemate provides both short and long sleeve options, featuring reflective tape and fluorescent colors for maximum visibility.

Hi-Vis Jackets for All Weather Conditions

Hi-Vis jackets are essential for workers exposed to outdoor elements, providing both visibility and protection against the weather. These jackets are designed to be waterproof, windproof, and insulated, making them ideal for cold and rainy conditions.

  • Rainbird specialize in hi-vis jackets that offer excellent protection and visibility, offering a range of waterproof options perfect for wet environments. This brand also incorporates reflective elements and bright colors to ensure the wearer is easily seen in all lighting conditions.

Hi-Vis Vests for Versatility

Hi-Vis vests are a practical and lightweight option for workers who need an extra layer of visibility without the bulk of a jacket or long sleeve shirt. Vests can be easily worn over other clothing, making them a versatile choice for various work situations.

  • Again, Rainbird and JB's offer a variety of hi-vis vests that are easy to put on and take off. Designed with multiple pockets for added functionality, and a focus on durability and comfort. Both brands prioritize high-visibility features, such as reflective tape and bright, fluorescent colors.

JB's feature lightweight vests for occassional wear and warmer weather.

Is all Hi-Vis Designed Equally?

A very resounding NO! Quality, Quality, Quality!

At Allingtons we only source the best in Hi-Vis clothing.

  • Hi-Vis should not easily fade. A faded yellow or orange shirt is NOT going to keep you safe.
  • Two-Tone garments, where the bottom is a dark colour like black or navy, with yellow or orange on top must meet a minimum Hi-Vis ratio.
  • Colours such as hot pink, emerald green and Azure blue as in the Ritemate range are not considered work site compliant, they are however perfect for walking, bike riding and farm work where you need to keep an eye on the kids.
  • Reflector tape should be made from a reputable brand such as 3M, Some brands print reflector onto garments so they flex with movement. If you choose one of these, go with Hard Yakka or KingGee, they do this very well.
