Red Wing Shoes
At the beginning of the 19th century, American shoe merchant Charles Beckman saw the necessity for a specially designed boot for the demanding work of industries like mining, logging and farming. The boots needed to be tough enough to outlast harsh working conditions, but be comfortable enough for a whole day of wear.
Originally imported into Australia to meet the requirements of gas and oil rigs, Red Wings boots now have a much broader utility base, initially proving popular with the trucking industry, then moving to the farming and primary industry sector. With a high mid calf design and quality leather, the boots offer superior protection form grass seeds and snakes as well the harsh bush elements. This combined with their versatility as a motor bike boot and a riding boot; Red Wings are perfect for a life on the land, providing the wearer with continued comfort and quality.
Currently Red Wing produces 5000 pairs of boots a day at its 5 plants, making it one of the largest boot companies in America.
